The sunflowers seem to be hanging onto summer even tighter than me this year. Every corner I turn I see more of them, standing tall. They’re hard to miss, like spotting the basketball team players walking on campus, head and shoulders above their neighbors.
The late summer blooms might be my favorite. I must admit, I feel a kinship with their wild hairlike petals (my postpartum hair is wild as ever still, 1 year later). I couldn’t resist drawing a couple more.
Per popular request, I also added four new sunflower prints.
Updates for Wren
Thank you to everyone who has purchased a print to raise money for our sweet friend Wren! If you missed last week’s newsletter, you can catch up here:
Flower Power for Wren
The Power of Flowers September is childhood cancer awareness month, and it pains me to say Clara’s friend Wren was recently diagnosed with kidney cancer. Her mother Jess is also a friend of mine and long time encourager of my art practice. Our friends sent flowers to the hospital and Jess asked if I would paint them, saying ‘
As I write this, we have raised almost $4000 for the Angel/Parent family! Around noon today I’ll temporarily mark these prints out of stock so we can catch up with order fulfillment. I’ll be sure to let you know when they re-open. If you would like to get in on the first round of orders you can shop via the link below. If you want to purchase extras for their family to gift to the hospital staff, please specify at checkout if the extra orders are to donate, otherwise I’ll ship them all to you.
Scribbles + Notes
Our good friends’ movie Quicksand, a michigan-filmed bromantic comedy, releases on Apple TV today! My forever fun fact: I’m in the last scene of the movie, breaking up with Dave at a local diner. For those who know us, that alone may be entertaining.
Gap is having a renaissance, and my inner 90s child couldn’t be happier. These corduroy flares are in my cart, and so is this sweater (it’s giving major Toteme) though it’s selling fast!
I also love how they style their outfits with these classic sneaks.
Okay that’s all for now! If you have any questions or just want to say hello, liking this post and sharing a comment really help my newsletter. I’m also always available via email.
Thank you for being here,
Katherine
