When summer hits up here, you can spend all day playing, eating, and sleeping at the beach (if you’re lucky). It becomes an extension of home. A place to live, a place to escape. I’ve yet to tire of documenting that way of life in my work, and how lucky I am to call this practice work.
With these paintings, I decided to dive deeper into a beach scene and zoom in on the individual beach goer. Their beach essentials of choice, the stripes on their shirt, the folds of their towel all serve as inspiration. And then the colors. The colors tell a whole story all on their own.
A special thank you to everyone who came to join us last night for our open studio event with Shed Wine! It was an absolute beach bash. I have no doubt that this community we have up here is one in a million. Such a supportive and fun crew we have the privilege to live alongside. I’m still catching up from all the excitement. I’ll try to share more photos and videos from the night on my instagram over the next week, so keep up with us over there. In the meantime, here’s a video a neighbor captured of the fun!
Now I’m off to celebrate some Leo season family birthdays. I hope you all continue enjoying your summer!
Nothing but love,
Katherine
