John heard the squeals and giggles first, followed by the three little voices hollering down the dune, “Pop Pop, we are here!!” He gave a big happy wave back, exaggeratedly swinging his arm over his head. He braced his stance by wiggling his feet into the sand anticipating his favorite moment of their family beach days. With flopping hats and one already missing a sandal, they raced down to him, rushing in all at the same time, pressing their warm cheeks and curling their little arms around his legs.
Thank you!
A big thank you to Megan Clouse for generously sharing her writing talents with us this month. I love escaping into a good summer beach read, and Megan’s words remind me of my favorite stack, sitting on my bedside table as we speak.
I often have a personal story about my artwork, but one of my favorite things about talking to collectors is hearing how a painting blends with their own memories. I found Megan’s perspectives inspiring, each left me wanting more!
We would love to know how you connected with this collaboration. Feel free to leave a comment or reply to this email sharing your feedback, we would really appreciate it!
To continue reading Megan’s work, subscribe to her substack, where she writes fictional stories about the dreamy, coastal photographs she takes in Maine, aptly titled “PhotoStory”. You can also follow her on Instagram.

Yesterday I was at the beach, waiting to meet a photography client, and as I stood there every moment was heightened. The chatter, “But I don’t need sunscreen Grandma!”, colorful beach chairs lined up and chubby toddler arms with water wings wrapped around tightly - I was noticing everything more because of your art.
You have such a gift of capturing joy and I’m humbled and honored to put words to your art. Thank you so much!
